Gheesutra Face Emulsion

A Divine Invention from Vedas Re-invented at Shankara for Healthy Skin

For centuries, ghee has been regarded as a magical ingredient with numerous benefits for both nutrition and skincare. As a source of healthy fats, ghee is known to nourish the body from within and aid in digestion. Additionally, ghee is a popular ingredient in Ayurvedic skincare due to its ability to deeply moisturize the skin and improve its texture.

Shankara Gheesutra Face Emulsion is a re-invented formulation of Ayurveda that nourishes your skin right from its core. This Face Emulsion is prepared using the age-old process of Shata-dhauta-ghrita, where purest cow ghee is washed for 100 times in a copper vessel. The goodness of this Ayurvedic emulsion is further enhanced by the balanced addition of Vitamin C, organic herbs like Hibiscus and Clitoria ternatia, and aromatic oils like sandalwood, rose flower, patchouli, green tea, and grape seeds, that offer excellent skin-healing benefits and magical beautification properties. It penetrates into the deepest layer of the skin, thus making your skincare experience holistic.

How was Shata-dhauta-ghrita prepared and used by our ancestors for maintaining healthy and glowing skin?

Our ancestors believed that Shata-dhauta-ghrita contains all the properties of Ghrita (Cow Ghee) obtained from Kamadhenu, a sacred cow that brings desired results.

Charaka Samhita, the ancient Ayurvedic text, was the first to highlight the medicinal properties of ghee, which is said to encompass 1000 types of actions. Ghee is considered as the best of all fats due to its ability to have a cooling effect over Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas of Ayurveda.

During the process of Shata-dhauta-ghrita pure A2 ghee is washed 100 times with distilled water. During each wash, the ghee is churned along with water for 100 times. The water is then discarded followed by the next wash cycle with fresh water. The rigorous process continued over a period of 7 days, involves 10,000 steps and the result is a consistent, smooth, non-greasy texture. Shankara’s Gheesutra Face Emulsion thus makes it fit for all skin types ranging from dry, normal, oily to sensitive skin.

How does Shata-dhauta-ghrita work?

Modern science has decoded the healing properties of Shata-dhauta-ghrita. Studies indicate that when pure cow ghee is repeatedly washed for 100 times, it splits the fat into saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. This process is known as fat splitting. The unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid, palmitic acid and lauric acid are washed off in each wash, therefore, leaving hydrolyzed fats like free fatty acids and glycerol which are lighter, highly absorbed by the skin and possess excellent skin healing benefits. These studies also reported that Shata-dhauta-ghrita has considerably lower levels of unsaturated fats when compared with cow ghee and chemical-based cream bases.

Moreover, scientific studies highlighted that repeat washes reduce the particle size which further facilitates the penetration of the face emulsion into to the deepest layer of skin along with other rich components. Infact, the surface area of the particles of Shata-dhauta-ghrita were found to be close to that of modern cream bases which echoes for its increased rate of absorption similar to that of chemical bases.

The process of successive washings not only enhances the purity and therapeutic benefits of ghee but also removes its characteristic smell. Gheesutra Face Emulsion is infused with luxurious floral oils that lend a mild and soothing fragrance, making it a pleasure to use on a daily basis.

How does Vitamin C work in conjunction with the ancient Ayurvedic process of Shata-dhauta-ghrita for skin rejuvenation?

Vitamin C is an established antioxidant and an essential component for glowing skin. Did you know that topical absorption of Vitamin C highly depends on the formulation of the cream?

Vitamin C can have a remarkable impact on your skin if it is mixed with lipid-based vehicles that allow penetration in the skin layers. The unique Shata-dhauta-ghrita process serves as the best formulation agent for Vitamin C because of its lipid content thereby ensuring extensive penetration and stabilization by preventing oxidation.

Vitamin C is clinically proven for the following skin benefits:

  • It promotes the development of collagen matrix in the dermis layer of skin. This strengthens the internal matrix and prevents wrinkle formation and maintains skin elasticity. When this layer is in balanced, the skin automatically looks youthful and flexible.
  • Vitamin C is the master of all antioxidants. It neutralizes the harmful oxidants that are present as environmental pollutants or ultraviolet radiations as well as internally generated free radicals thereby preventing hyperpigmentation, skin sagging, blemishes, and age spots.
  • It decreases melanin synthesis in the melanocyte cells and therefore promotes fair and glowing skin.

Overall, Vitamin C is an essential component of the Shankara Gheesutra Face Emulsion that increases skin firmness, texture, and softness making your skin feel younger.
